I built this gun for sale, it is a doglock, smoothbore musket. It is based on MM1 in Neumanns, "Weapons of the American Revolution". Stock is plain walnut, custom barrel by Rice, lock is from The Rifle Shoppe, dated 1706. Barrel is 10 ga, (.775 cal.) length is 34 inches, weight is 7lb, 4 ounces. Butt plate is sheet brass, nailed in place and the trigger guard is also sheet brass as per the original. This is a replica of a militia musket, made to be as inexpensive as possible so the individual charged by the state to raise a militia company or regiment could pocket the difference! New condition, unfired.
This would be ideal for a militia or frontier reenactor, turkey hunter or someone just tired of yet another SMR or Pennsylvania longrifle. I am willing to bet for every 1 rifle on the frontier, there were probably 50 to 100 of guns like this on the frontier, due to cost. Gun is very handy and light, would be a pleasure to carry all day.
Price is $1600, which includes, insurance and shipping in the continental US in a wooden crate. Check (shipped when check received), money order or credit card for 3% additional, Ie $48.00 accepted. If you are a congressman with some gold bars hidden, I would take that as well.
