Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
Hey yall does anyone know what the correct flint size i should buy for the pedersoli indian trade gun. Ive seen people say that 3/4 is good and that 7/8 is good. Would that be 3/4×7/8 or 7/8×1.
Measure for yourself, put the cock at half cock and measure from the top jaw screw to the closed frizzen. Then subtract 1/8” for the gap needed plus the leather wrap for the flint. Also measure how wide will not hit the barrel and engage the frizzen.
@Phil Coffins is providing a good answer. I like to do as @Loyalist Dave shows in the following thread. The notch at the fold in the leather allows for a longer flint and provides a more substantial backing to the flint.
A short cut is to email TOW. Tell 'em what gun you have, or even what lock, and they will get back to you very quickly, and refer you to their catalog where yoh can order them.
