Does anyone know if Colt's revolving rifles used musket style nipples or pistol style? Reason I'm asking is brother Steve while metal detecting found what appears to be an oversized Colt pistol style "L" shaped nipple wrench/screwdriver but is for removing musket style nipples. Forged in one piece it came from the CW camp by my spring. A few Colt revolving rifle bullets have been recovered nearby in years past. Thanks for any info.

'evening,

While I don't know for certain, I would assume that they would be pistol size. Because the wings on the musket caps would potentially interfere with the cylinder revolving and/or clearance on the cones.

Here's a link to one for sale: https://www.rockislandauction.com/d...ull-stock-military-percussion-revolving-rifle, and I'll admit that the cones look to be musket sized, not pistol sized.

Hopefully someone who has handled one can chime in.

Thanks for the link. The square shank sure looks like a musket style nipple and not a pistol style to me.
