So I know that 00 is the "happy" size for a 12ga as they stack nicely in the bore in groups of 3 but what is that size for a 20ga? I cast plenty of 00 for slingshot ammo but I don't really want to use them in the smoothbore as I feel like the shot column would be all kinds of wonky and impossible to repeat in that 20ga bore.

Three .280 balls will lay side by side in a 20ga bore.

This is three .284 bullets.

A bit snug.

I think purpose governs best. If you are developing a buckshot load for hunting, check you game commission regulations. Most states have regulations on buckshot for specific game.
