Wanting to know how you all finish your brass? I finished a kit that had some very ruff brass and was of poor casting to start off. I and ended up going with a high polish to get ride of the deep scratches and i dont like the look of High polish.

Get some 1000 grit or finer wet/dry paer scuff as yousee fit

Soak the polished brass parts (off the gun of coarse )in urine for 1 week or so ,then rinse off with cool water, this will give a very good patina .

Several ways of toning it down. Some 2000 grit auto-body paper will take the gloss off & not scratch it up.

Birchwood Casey Brass Black will make it tarnish, but don't get it on the wood as it will stain the wood.

Some black powder wet on a patch will tarnish it as well.

Age.... works well in tarnishing it, but it will not age if you put any gun oil or rust preventative on it.

Ok you yank .... are taking the piss :rotf: why don't some of you try this on a small piece eg. a button and just see how it goes :)
