I read years ago doing that will bring a person good luck, I stop as well and move them to where it's safe.

Did you refinish the whole stock after dropping the comb or did you match the existing finish?

If so, what did you use to match the T/C finish.

I'm posing the question because my wife wants a lower comb on her T/C Seneca and I'm conflicted about matching the original T/C color & finish.

There is no T/C finish left on this stock...Jim Chamers traditional stock finish applied.
Will find out how well this finish holds up to the normal wear and tear I put on my rifles.I use them lots!
My advise is remove the t/c finish and slim the wood down.
I have yet to see a T/C factory rifle stock that couldn't go on a wood diet.

My camera makes this rifle look short and squatty! it's thinner in real life.

Thanks!..Might Just send it south ..Maybe you could impart some of your "Round Ball" deer magnitizum on it!

Thanks!...These 300.00 rifles are fun to tweek..
Might add some checking to the wrist and forearm.
Great warm to my "Bucket list" Early Virgina this winter

Thanks guys...I'll be working to shrink my group..and find the drop from my 82 yard sightin to 100 yd poi.

I hunt mostly thicker river bottom average 35 -75 yard shots.

Best part of this project-redo is "It feels like mine now"!
Yes It's not a custom or even a semi custom.
This is one of my stepping stones to building a complete rifle.
Hope this inspires others to move forward with their factory rifles.
Currently 3/4 way through a T/C Cherokee redo..Tweak On!

A .575 ball and a .024" patch combination in a GM barrel seems really tight for a hunting load. Do you use a hammer with your short starter to get the ball seated in the barrel?

No..once the patch is compressed the brass rod handles it well.
I'm a damp to wet patch shooter..just works for me...
The 40 cotton duct patch is a tough one.
My goal on all my rifles is a patch material impression 360 on the rb.
