I have a pedersoli KY LR. First off what powder works best for these rifles off experience. Also anyone know of a good place to order black Powder (not in bulk) at a good price?

Another question is 2F good enough for priming? Or should i just go with 3F.

I dont want 4F because its a gun that i wont shoot much, mainly for hunting.

For one rifle in 45 caliber. FFFg is the way to go. Your statement that you won't shoot it much may be up for modification once you get into it and learn how reliable, effective, and fun it can be!

No matter how much you shoot it, remember to clean it thoroughly the same day you shoot it.

Thanks! i forgot to add the caliber it is a 45.

With a .45 go with 3Fg powder.

It's fine for priming the pan as well as for the main powder charge.

If 3Fg powder isn't available then try the 2Fg powder.

It will still work as a pan priming and will shoot all right in your .45 but it will be a bit down on power and it will leave a bit more fouling in the bore.

Any black powder will work in any muzzleloader better than any of the synthetic black powders.

Anyone know where i can get some GOEX, I dont want to buy in bulk however. It seems no where local has any. Friendship isnt that far from me but its still a hike. I'm in Northern KY if anyone close to me knows of where i can get some.

You will probably be forced to buy in bulk. Unless you have a Bass Pro shop near you, But they are $30.00 or so a lb. Powderinc. is the place, you can get it in as low as 5lbs lots, and it will still be a whole lot cheaper than buying it over the counter.

Bestplace 5lb order is powder inc seach them on the net but ifyou just want a pound then look localy or try find bp shooters in your area or bp club

You should be ok with the 3F in your 45. If you feel that you need 4F to prime a pound will last a long time.

The problem with ordering powder is there is $27.50 Hazardous Material fee that has been added. If 10 pounds are ordered it adds $2.75 per pound. Buy more it adds less buy less more.

Good luck and don't be surprised if you start shooting more and more. Geo. T.

You can order 4 lbs or more from Grafs.
You can also order 5 and 10 lb lots from Powder Inc.

I've ordered as little as 3lbs from Graf's for about $77 to my door for their Schutzen (Graf label) BP in the past.

There's not much difference in price between them and Powder Inc. until you get up to 10lbs which are in 5lb increments with Powder Inc.

Has anyone here tried experimenting with grossly wrong powder to see what happens, like using cannon powder in a .32? The closest I've come is to shoot Fg in a 45

I do have a Bass pro near me however that store no longer stocks BP.
