Mr. Zonie.

I took your advice...and tried Goex today!

Used 60 Grs 2FG Goex today. Still not sure what to interpret from my range results... Yes the Goex fouled abit more therefore, I swabbed after each shot...

I did notice my Minie balls were not consistent as it relates to the diameter of the skirt... Lots of variability on how they fit and "rammed". Would any variability in the skirt (i.e. slight deformation) affect the ballistics enough to affect my results?

Skirt variability and bore fit will both effect accuracy.

Ideally, the body of the Minie' should be .002 smaller than the bore of the gun.

The skirt thickness should be uniform but some out of roundness should not cause a big problem.

With a 60 grain powder charge, unless the skirt is unusually thin it should be okay.
(Heavy powder charges can blow the skirt apart as the bullet leaves the muzzle, destroying accuracy.)

BTW... I am not trying to blame the ammo for my bad shooting... I am just working to understand the variances and variables in the whole equation!

I removed my nipple today and took it to a parts store to have it measured. They couldn't do it and advised taking it to a business called "Fastenall". They measured the factory nipple and it came out as 8X1.0mm. They double checked it with a corresponding nut in the same size and it screwed right on to the Zoli nipple.
