What's a good load for this?

I'm having Bobby Hoyt bore out a TC 56 smooth bore to 62. What kind of loads would you recommend for rabbits and turkey? The barrel is one inch across the flats. I would think it could handle the same loads as the Green Mountain 62 barrels could??

Loaded for 18 days and it fired!

Yesterday I finally got around to shooting the loaded TC Hawken I had laying out on the porch. It had been loaded for 18 days and still fired just like it had been loaded five minutes ago. The powder was Triple Seven 2F, which is what several of my hunting rifles like best. I had heard a lot of...

Well season is over for this year

Was able to get my 22nd deer with a muzzle loader this year. This years rifle of choice was a TC Hawken with a GM fast twist barrel. This barrel appears to be a good shooter. Just have not shot it as much as I should have. Took it out and zeroed it and went hunting. Groups were very good...

    Flintlock turkey

Kind of proud of my buddy. He built a Jim Chambers 20 ga fowler after picking up the kit at the CLA show last year. Yesterday he braved the cold, and got a turkey with it. Said he was using 90 grain measure of shot and powder. I had told him to use 7.5 shot to get a more dense pattern and it...

    Using Lee molds

For those of you who use Lee bullet molds to cast with: what type of lube do you use on the mold? Does everyone use the Lee lube talked about in the instructions? What's your idea on this subject? I have for the most part always used Lyman molds which did not require any lube. So if anyone...

    Buffalo Hunting-where to go??

If a person was looking for a good place to hunt buffalo what would you recommend?? I don't want a big old bull, but am thinking more in the line of a young cow or spike bull. Has anyone here hunted buffalo with a 54 caliber rifle? If so what do you recommend for a load?

    Stocking up on TC parts

Now that TC has discontinued producting their Hawken rifle, thought it was time to lay in a supply of spare parts just in case. I currently have enough parts to take care of most anything that might happen later on. I'm thinking a spare lock, extra hammer, trigger and a collection of sights...

    Sights for competion

What sights do people use on percussion rifles when shooting competion? Would a globe front sight be allowed when used with an open rear sight? The reason I am asking is I have a Lyman 57 SML on the TC Hawken presently, but can push the button and pull the top of the peep off very easy. I...
