    Dixi Gun Works Disappoints.

This is my second large order from Dixi in the last six months. First I ordered a 1858 pietta and the thing had been dry fired so much the caps wouldn't even fit the nipples. Now I ordered a sharps rifle $1,696,front sight $205 and a tang sight $287. The tang sight is covered with rust...

    Painting a stock.

I'm just about ready for paint on my Traditions flintlock. My question is how to seal the stock before primer and paint? I'm going to use a high quality automotive one stage paint but the wood I'm thinking will need some type of sealer first. Anyone with experience with this?

    Traditions Kentucky Pistol accuracy?

It's almost time to add a pistol to my armory. I shoot NMLRA matches so accuracy is a must. Who has first hand experience with this pistol? Would I be wasting my time and money with such a cheap priced gun? Has anyone competed with one? Opinions?

    CVA .32 Cal Squirrel gun

I have a CVA squirrel gun I purchased for my father in 1983. I purchased it from a store in upstate NY. At the time I remember that the set trigger in the kit is a non functional trigger. If you wanted an operational set trigger it needed to be ordered separately. I would love to use...

    Follow through

I'm new to competing with a flintlock in NMLRA. Of course I'm having new shooter problems with follow through. Flinch, moving the muzzle before the ball leaved the barrel. So my question is what exactly Is "follow through " and how to train for it? 99% of NMLRA is offhand so this is what I need...

    Poo Poo Pietta #2

Well yet again my 1858 Pietta has let me down. Less than 50 rounds through the gun and the lock tab for the loading lever popped off when I shot it. The gun came fron Dixi Gun works and was listed as new. The gun must of been a demo model because the nipples and hammer had signs of dry firing. I...

    Help with my balls.

I purchased two open flintlock pistols at auction. One from 10-ring precision is .45 caliber and says to use patched .440 round ball, no problem with that one. The second one has absolutely no markings anywhere. Has a false muzzle, as best I can measure at the lands it's .375. The false muzzle...

    Poo Poo Pietta!

I purchased an Pietta 1858 Remington clone from Cabellas in October. Out of the box It was shooting 2 inches to the right at 25 yards. I had to drift the sight over about 1/8 of an inch to correct the wind age, I thought the front sight was bent because looking down at the barrel the sight is...

I finished up the metal work on my SRM today. I disassembled everything, filed and sanded down to 600grit. After a couple hours on the buffing wheel using green compound I was ready for Finnish. I used Jax Black for bronze and copper. The deep black finish was so pleasing to me I decided to...
