I have never really cared for the amount of drop on these locks.. for most builds that is.. Sometimes change is needed.
It doesn't look like much, but this raises the tail end up over 1/8".. although many would never know or be able to tell, it will make a big difference on the overall...

Alright getting a few questions about my barrel depth gauge. Hope these pictures help. A 90 degree angle will work on any round, oct/rnd, oct. swamped barrel along any point. As long as your are inletting the barrel halfway and as long as you have the side profiles properly marked. :thumbsup...
I will start out with Barrel layout.. The only measurements I get are the breech height/width and then at the muzzle.
Basic layout lines to start out from.
Having removed the waste wood I have found where I want to have the barrel centered. Allowing enough room for the lock panels and cast...
Well Boys.. and Girls.. Jane has served me well.. 60 grains of 2F over the powder wad and a .600 roundball in .020 pillow ticking seems to do the trick.

Alrighty.. 46" Charles Burton 20 gauge barrel stocked in walnut sheet brass trigger gaurd and a Davis lock.
I jug choked the barrel going to see what she does with some shot :grin:
Well this may be one of the last that my Father and I work on together. .575 bore... to shoot the .555 round balls that I have :haha: Slightly aged with steel furniture. Its been in the works for a while now, thought that I would finish it up.

It sports a 40" .62 swamped rifled barrel
by Charles Burton, Chambers lock, curly maple stock and brass furniture... The thimbles, patch box and sideplate were...
So David G came over and said that he wanted to make a knife... this is what we came up with.
Made it using 1080 steel, and a phone call :haha: 5 1/8" blade..
