    Early Shooting Sticks

Thanks very much Cowboy for the reply and posting the photos. Like the work you did on the early stick you built. Also like your latest one. I may have to try my had at that too. I'll bet those are authentic looking replicas. Have found so many things of interest since I got started with ML...

    Early Shooting Sticks

Thanks very much for your input gents. Interesting coincidence as this morning I received a flyer for an up coming event at one of the clubs we attend for ML shoots. The event is called a "Hunters Match" with monopod type shooting sticks allowed. After reading the rules on the shooting stick I...

How do you guys fill your powder horns?

Now, why didn't I think of that. Getting ready to finally start using a powder horn that was given to me and want to do a test fill but was scratching my head a bit about how to funnel the propellant into that rather small hole. Thanks rusty.

North Hampton Pouch project by Splinters

Hello TC, A very pleasant surprise having you critique my attempt at your North Hampton pouch and your gracious comments. I keep your book close at hand and continually review sections for future work. This Muzzleloader business has really caught my attention and your book has added greatly to...

North Hampton Pouch project by Splinters

Thanks for that Mick. I think Mr. Albert did a grand job in his book showing and suggesting the way to do the North Hampton pouch or any of the other pouches he covered. I was concerned about installing the gusset but in following his direction it was a straight forward process. I have now...

Thanks for that. As BrownBear mentioned I think I've caught the bug and I'm now beginning to wrap the old mine around another project.

North Hampton Pouch project by Splinters

Rubbed in a coat of Fiebring’s Saddle Soap, let dry and then polished with a soft cloth. Just followed the directions on the can. The pouch definitely is beginning to feel supple already. I think I’ll follow the same routine three or four more times this week with an application a day...

Which caliber .50 or .54 percussion

Attended another Traditional Muzzleloader shoot yesterday and the GPR an I are getting better acquainted with each event. Getting close to 200 rounds through the tube and believe it is getting more accurate with each outing. Did loose another key wedge, rear one this time. Have a spare that I...

North Hampton Pouch project by Splinters

Thanks for that BrownBear. I too have some of TOTW Mink Oil as I've been using it for my patch lube. If the Saddle Soap doesn't seem to be doing the job I'll give the Mink Oil a try. I feel there maybe another pouch sitting there on my shoulder waiting to get to the bench.

North Hampton Pouch project by Splinters

I’ve finished the North Hampton County pouch shown here with a few other things I’ve acquired since getting into muzzleloading this last April. Anyway, a fun project that has taught me a lot I think. Now if I can get some of the stiffness out of the pouch where it is more pliable I’ll be happy...
