    1.5F Swiss Powder

Good to know, and on another note I have often wondered what "Null" grade is used for? and if pushed come to shove would reenactor grade be usable as a secondary replacement for another grade? or if running low on 2F mix it with some of these? or wold that be a major mistake?

    Colt pattern Powder Flask storage

Thats exactly what mine was stored in, although the can I use is a lot bigger than the average 30cal/ 50cal box (it was a shipping container for an ejection seat rocket motor) it still has good seal. Was just odd that the flask was the only one to have the issue, guess I will just have to toss...

    Moist Powder?

I got it spread out on a plate as much as I can, will give it a couple days with occasional stirrings, currently in a desert area with pretty low humidity, so that should help as well. Thanks for the help.

    Colt pattern Powder Flask storage

I live in the central valley of Kalifornia and we have a yearly temp swing from low 30's in winter to 110ish in summer. Figured being in the garage in a sealed box that it wouldn't be too affected. But as Stumpkiller suggested I think from now on it will stay in the house proper. thanks for the...

    Colt pattern Powder Flask storage

Roger that! Guess I will have to do that as well, that is after I see if the that flask is salvageable. What confuses me is that the powder in my horn and the other containers was unaffected while being stored in the same ammo box and location.

    Moist Powder?

I had some powder in a pistol flask that seems to have become moist. I had it stored in an ammo can that still has a good seal, and all my other powder that was stored in the can still looks good. Is there a way to restore this powder? or is it a total loss?

    Colt pattern Powder Flask storage

I have a Colt pattern powder flask that I bought a couple of years ago. I only used it a couple of times and then put it in my black powder ammo can where it has stayed unused for guessing a couple of years. I recently got it out to prepare for some shooting but when I tried to pour some powder...

    Re-tempering frizzen?

Frizzen hardening would only be needed if you were only replacing the frizzen? If you purchase a new complete lock the frizzen is already good to go correct?

1851 Colt Navy original vs replicas

This ol Sailor has one of those crazy 51's with brass frame in .44, the grips fit well in my hands feel about the same as some 60's I have handled. But I sure do love my NAVY pistol even if its completely non-PC/HC GO NAVY!

    Rite of Passage...First Dry Ball!

As far as military forces went, didn't the orgainzed units use a "paper cartridge"? bite the pack, splash the pan, drop the rest down the pipe, followed by the ball? but then in regards to frontiersmen using powder horns would be a lot more hectic.

    Lyman GPR sight picture

Thanks to all for the help, I have been thinking of getting the the long hawken rear sight from TOTW along with some other mods, but for now I am just trying to make sure I can shoot straight, and consistantly with what I got. Thanks again for all the help.

so is this is the correct sight alignment I need to achieve for 100 yd shots? with the gray spot being the top of the front sight blade.

    Lyman GPR sight picture

I have been trolling this sight for a while trying to find out what is the correct way to line up the sights on a GPR. I am using the stock buckhorn sight that has a little bit of elevation adjustment on the rear sight (part number is RS-PM-1 on TOW website). Am I supposed to align the top of...

    Pedersoli Flintlock Kentucky Pistol

That looks real nice, and has refueled my desire to get one of these. I was just looking at them on the pedesoli site and was wondering how the barrel was attached so I came here to research and found this thread. I will definitely be following your advice and installing an underlug. thanks Dan S.
