Latest project - not for me - too bad

Just finished this pistol for a friend and it is my first attempt at engraving. Shipper's book and the various viedos sure make it look easy. HAHAHAHA! It has an L&R lock (which is another story) and a GM .50 cal barrell. I have had it to the range and it shoots sweet...

    Lokc Cover

How about a thong (leather strip that is) about 6-8 inches long with a large craft bead on one end. Instead of tying it over the lock pass the thong through the holes of your cover. To remove take hold of the bead and pull the tong free of the cover.

    Loading block

A friend needed a loading block so I told her save the money and let me make one from some scrap walnut. I got all "artsy" and wanted it to look like a rope. I sort of looks like a Tootsie Roll. Wife says it looks like a Celtic tattoo but it is pretty anyway...

I was told to boil the horn to get it soft. I tried that ***************once************** I was lucky to get back in the kitchen to eat. The aroma was pretty stout.

    Cleaning between shots?

I use equal amounts of rubbing alcohol/hydrogen peroxide/Murphanys Oil soap successfully for everthing. When range shooting I keep a damp patch on the loading rod when I seat the ball. I stay one shot dirty. Whatever you do, do it the same every time.

    .40 caliber GM barrel

If you want GM start looking now. GM has dropped the ml line. When they are gone, they are gone.

    OK....I did the idiot load....

Waste not, want not. After you pull the ball and put your tip back on the ramrod you have now created a custom made round ball hollowpoint. Been there. Done that.

    deluxe siler flint positon

That is why they are referred to as a flinch-lock by those who love/hate them. I used to use flints from the scrap bucket when Dad was knapping arrowheads. Had one that stuck out the side 2 inches. Got over 50 shots out of it before it wore down.

    Economical flintlock

Stay away from Traditions fl rifle. Aquanence of mine got one last Christmas "on sale" for $250. New out of the box. Lousy lock and I had to replace it with L&R to get it to go poof-boom.
