    No plot, really. I do know a few things though. You can't hunt griz in the lower 48, anywhere, that I know of. Not all griz want to kill you (just 7 out of 10) I've been closer than 10 yards a couple times and one could care less, the other I wasn't sure of. We do get a few charges every...

    I've noticed some pretty good variance in the Speer balls also. Shot up what I had and stayed with Hornady. Did notice better grouping.

    BrownBear....thanks for the heads up on the mink oil from TOW. Been hunting for some pure mink oil and that is the cheapest I've seen so far.

    Kit Rifle or not ?

    Don't think it would matter if it was a kit or not, wouldn't to me if the fit and finish looked good and all was in working order. Depending on how bad the cracks are, it seems a bit high. If you're serious about the gun, try to use the cracks as bargaining material :thumbsup:

    Real black powder (2F) is what I use. I've had luck putting some 3F BP in the cleanout hole. Compressed air through the nipple can also work.

    Pyrodex is a substitute. Any obstruction in the nipple? I think the thread size is 6X.75. Any access to a CO2 discharger? Pyrodex isn't the best in a sidelock. Some people have good luck, most don't.

    Did you only try one cap? Real BP or substitute? Was the cap all the way seated on the nipple?

    Howdy Rob...Did you buy a GPR? Hey, I'll go in on 5 lb of 2F with ya......course, you'd have to deliver it :blah: I go about 2 hrs for powder. I don't drive that far just for powder but I buy a pound whenever I'm in the neighborhood. :thumbsup:
