I have been repairing/restoring an old Miroku the past couple of months. I know these rifles don’t garner a lot of respect but I have learned a lot from tinkering with it and learning techniques before I move on to more expensive rifles. I have sanded off excess wood, stripped and refinished the stock, shaped the brass where needed, repaired a split behind the tang, glass bedded below behind and below the barrel where needed, draw filed the barrel, reprofiled and reblued the trigger to make it look better. Whether or not it shoots straight is yet to be seen but I have learned a lot. The bore looks brand new. The front sight is a bit unusual but it seems practical. It uses a threaded rod that is filed down to the correct height. I beveled the back of it so it makes a nice bright dot when aiming.

Cool rifle. I have a .45 caliber Jukar rifle similar to yours. I don’t know if mine was a kit or if someone just refinished it, but it’s obvious they didn’t know what they were doing. On the outside, it’s rough as a cob, some might say ugly, but I like the look. The bore is in excellent shape and it’s accurate as can be. Like the man said, “only accurate guns are interesting “.

That’s a neat idea on the front sight, but I would also file the threads off. Keep us posted and let us know how it shoots. 👍

I never disrespect any traditional style muzzleloader. Keep that baby burning powder and enjoy it. I personally would file the screw threads off that front sight. But I think that it is cool how somebody made that sight from a screw.

I bought some brass screws with the same thread pitch. I’ll probably use one of those and file it down and clean it up. Maybe make two and have a long range and short range version!

I also have a Miroku Ky rifle in .45 that I restored several years ago that is a pretty high quality item . Good lock , nice wood and fitting and a excellent barrel . I'd have to say the wormanship is on par with the older CVA's or better having owned both . I'll try to get a pic of it up if interested .

I would like to see some pics if you have time. Have you shot yours? If so, how did it do?

Haven't shot it a lot but seems to shoot great . I may get it out during the spring squirrel season . It needs to be limbered up lol .
