    Have used it for 45 years, no problems at all but i do not use it for a long time storage protectant, seems to me if your going to use water to clean up your weapon after shooting you would like to have a good lube that displaces water hence WD water displacer #40

    I use to use the store bought stuff also years ago, I just use a mixture of unsalted lard, bees wax and castor oil.

    Your good as long as the threads aren't stripped. got in a new GPR just 3 weeks ago and lyman has changed their QC quite a bit, the new rifle is not near the quality of my older guns and the clean out hole screw on this new model is an allen screw not a sloted screw.
