tg, I understand what you're saying and, for the most part, I agree. I just took offense to the statement about gun builders being the only knowledgable folks (that wasn't your exact statement, but it was implied). Perhaps I'm reading too much into your statement and am being overly sensitive...

So you have to be a builder to be knowledgable about firearms? If your not a builder you don't know a safe firearm from a smoking pipebomb? I'm trying to understand what your saying here. tg, I've read many of your posts here and you seem to be very savvy and knowledgable. Surely you don't...

Hey, I don't own the company or work for it. I live in Texas! I have bought one gun from them. I just understand why they make that statement. I talked to them on the phone, before I ordered. I'm not telling anyone to run out and buy two or three. You have to make your own decision. Some folks...

Shake your head all you want Va.Manuf.06, I didn't survive 25 years as an Indirect Fire Infantryman (Mortarman) by being stupid!!! I vehemently resent your implications that I am. Believe it or not, you are not the know all, do all, end all when it comes to weapons on this forum. You don't...

Loyalist Arms gets around the same import laws by shipping their locks separately. I just recieved one from them in that way. MVT doesn't have to do either because their company is in the United States.

This is a perfect example of taking a statement out of context. The Discriminating Generals website actually says, "Non-firing State We sell historically accurate muskets as a non-firing state. This allows us to comply with local, state, national and international firearms regulations. A...

Lab Report on blown India musket

Mike, I personally wouldn't expect any apologies from anyone. As for running American gunbuilders out of business, I don't know the answer. I have seen some of your work and it is undoubtly some of the finest I have ever seen; beautiful work. My problem is that I just, flat can't afford it on...

Lab Report on blown India musket

Pichou, the point that I was trying to make is; In 30+ years of shooting blackpowder, I've never seen a custom built or production reproduction (Indian, American or Italian built) musket that looked like it was inletted with a screwdriver. I've seen some that weren't real well done. The point...

Lab Report on blown India musket

All I'm gonna say here is :bull: I don't know what guns you are or have looked at (if any), but my two muskets inletting is near perfect. I give up!!:headslap:

Sorry, Greg, but that statement is absolutely unfounded. Can you quote where you got your information that the barrels are not made of the best quality metal. Or are you repeating 2nd hand information that you've heard. There is some folks on this forum who have been shooting these muskets for...

Brown bess MVT or Loyalist ?

I've been reading these negative posts by Skagan, VaMfg06, Mike Brooks, Russ T. Frizzen and others for months now. I have remained mostly silent as I don't want any confrontations with these fine folks, whom I respect. BBS has taken the brunt of most of these criticisms alone. I am going to...

    Real World smoothie/roundball accuracy?

With my Pedersoli Brown Bess, I'm getting similar groups as Cutfingers. With my .62 Kentucky Fowler, I'm still experimenting with patch/ball combinations. It seems to shoot a little low at 50 yards if I aim along the top of the barrel. Still trying to find a consistent cheek weld/sight picture.

    Greetings from Texas

Welcome aboard Roaringbull. I'm a former Fort Worth boy who now lives in Texas City on the Gulf Coast. We still make it to Fort Worth a couple of times a year. When I lived in Fort Worth, I did all of my shooting at Alpine.
