Just Realized How far I've Gotten

Hi Louie; Yes you have come a long way and done good. Glad you enjoyed the "vous" I have yet to make my first one. Question for you, way back when you first got started I recommended you get "Dutch Shoultz's" info on black powder accuracy. Did You ever get it? If not, send me a PM with...

How to lube while cutting patch at the barrel?

I make strips of pillow or mattress ticking. Lube it with Ballistol with a 7 to 1 ratio. Carry them rolled up and in a 35 mm film canister. To use, the lubed strip can be tucked in your pocket or tied off through one of your shirt button holes. Makes it easy to find and cut at the muzzle.

    Round Ball Ballistics Calculator

Runs great on my Mac Mini running virtual windoz 7. Thanks for a very usable program. I agree with Capper, it does make a PRB look bad at a 100 yards. OB

    Patch question

Hi youall, it's me again. I checked the crown with a pair of old panty hose, no burrs. Sharpened the patch knife. Checked the rifling, with a bore light, no burrs or inconsistencies. Found 14 out of 39 Hornady swaged 490 balls had sprues on em. Opened a new box of Hornady 490 balls, Most all of...

    Patch question

Hi Paul; The patches are either pillow or mattress ticking. They mike out at 017 after washing. They are cut at the muzzle with what was once a razor sharp knife. (I need to sharpen that puppy.) That might have caused the fraying around the edges. Am making new patch strips as I type...

    Still Hunting

Good luck on your operations. I used to still hunt 40 years ago and I really enjoyed it. Then had to quit while hunting the $$$ in my own business. Now that I'm retired and trying to get back into hunting, I'm disabled, can't walk very far so can't do it. So have opted for a ground blind and...

    T-C Vernier Tang sight

I have one of those old T-C Vernier tang sights from back in the 70s. Are they worth messing with? I was going to put it on my 50 cal hawken to be able to use the same amount of powder and the same sight picture for punching paper at the range. What do you all think about that approach...

    A jukor lock

I have two 45s. One has Connecticut Valley Arms and made in Spain 45 cal stamped on the barrel. The other one has only Jukar stamped on it. Both have the same locks. But they are not interchangeable. There is a slight difference in the length and curve of the lock so they will not...

Mark did you see the rusty, scarred up rifle with no markings on it for $850.00. The owners son said his dad had just got it back from being cleaned up? OB

Anybody Squirrel hunt much this year?

Used to hunt em on an island in the Appalachacola river. Nothing on the island but cypress. Lots of cypress nuts. Lots of squirrels. They tasted so bad, the dog wouldn't even eat em.
