    CVA Mountain rifle c. 1970s

    That is a real douglas barrel. I have often traded two for one for spanish bbl rifles made immediately after. I f your bbl says made in usa, and a few omoitted this logo it is a douglas bbl.

    How'd they make round ball molds?

    They are said to have made a cherry with each new rifle or upon freshening. The usual medium was soapstone, I believe. I used to own a soapstone bullet made with a cherry. :thumbsup:

    Stock bedding matrial??

    I often use microbed to help hide poor inletting on customer's guns. Make the color right and stain the stock dark and it is almost un-noticeable.

    Narrow screw slots

    If the slot has been "boogered", I peen the top first and then open up the slot. I guess I have over a hundred different screwdriver tips as I do this for a living. The driver should completely fill the slot, all the way to bottom and be snug on the sides. They should always be a little smaller...

    Bill Large Barrel

    Shoot, the best I can offer is a 54 with no breechplug that has never been mtd. It IS a genuine large as I got it from him in the 70's. He didn't like letting go go unbreeched bbl's but 75 dollars talked, then... :thumbsup:

    Fortunately I was a plumber before I was a gunsmith! The cleanliness of the joint and the quality of the flux and solder outweigh my own incompetence.
