    H.E.Leman project build

Then why do we not see this style of sight on rifles? Seldom does a good idea go unexploited in the world of rifles/hunting/shooting? I obviously trust that you like it and that it works for you but that does not make it a good idea.

    H.E.Leman project build

No disrespect intented but the top of the ring and the sides of the ring are covering your target! The magic of an aperature mounted close to your eye is that it magically centers the front sight. Not so with that arrangement. The other benefit is that none of the aperature sight blocks your...

Graham, how in the heck do you create a usable sight picture with that sight??? None of the benefits of an aperature sight but extra metal blocking target pic and light?

    Drill and tap recommendation

You should be able to find tap and # drills locally unless you live in an igloo but it is pretty easy to just order the Clearance Drill Tap Drill Tapered Tap from TOW, they make it easy. The only thing I have pondered is if 8-32 taps could be had in longer lengths then the ones from TOW so...

Nothing beats a large aperature peep sight. Good choice. Like you say not PC but the sight a hunter would choose.

    Spliced Tipi lodge polls

I think a 20 footer falls in the category of permenant structure. Are you planning on living in it for some time? For the price a nice used RV could be had LOL. If you do a search you'll see that some of the people who sell large teepees sell two piece poles (adds 2 grand to the cost :shocked2...

    Barrel wall thickness

If the barrel is not yet altered the 43 mauser/egyptian/11mm swedish are fantastic cartridges. Given the choice I would rather own 20 pieces of bertram brass and a mold then a RB shooter. I owned and miss dearly a 43 mauser carbine. Drove tacks and stopped moose right where they stood. Played...

    Smoothbore drop

Your so right. A clover leaf at 25 yards is still on a pie plate at 100 and we see an awful lot of nested RBs on 25 yard targets. It is much much much rarer to find a good shooter then it is to find a firearm capable of shooting well. With open sights, a decent trigger and solid CF rifle 9...

    Barrel wall thickness

Don't know about barrel thickness but am curious are you going to shoot conicals in it or is the twist appropriate for RB?

    Trapper Neslon Backpack Care?

Just hang it somewhere not near a fire. 60 year old steam bent wood does not like to be anymore dried out. I used a trapper nelson daily at work thru two west coast winters and never gave rot or drying a second thought. No harm done. Just don't wrap it in a trash bag and store it in a sauna.

    RCA Books

Is it the mainspring running into the barrel that causes the dislike or the angle from your lockplate to tang/barrel flat? Curious cause I finally came to realize the relationship between lock hieght/wrist architecture and wood to barrel flat blending and bolster thickness and have been trying...

    deer load for my tennessee

If your rifle shoots accurately with 70 grains then it is more then enough. my .50 eats 60 grains each time I pull the trigger and I would not hesitate to hunt any NA game with it. (grizzly/polar bear) excepted. Not that I would'nt but I would hesitate a bit LOL. You do not gain any useful...

    New Shop and Bench

A work area/vice in front of one (or both) of those windows. I'd go so far as to move the bench away from the window enough that you could sit with your back to the window. Seems most of the pro builders work on a station that they can move around. Every mistake I have ever made on guns...
