Very nice Nate. I have to comment that Jess looks quite photogenic in this shot.

Keep them coming even if it's with these loathesome reproductions!

Best regards, Skychief.

You are having way too much fun Brit!

By the way, will you consume that magpie? If so, how do you prepare it?
No sir, the magpie is worm food.

They are a prolific predatory bird over here and any real conservationist is keen to remove them.

Nice pics. At the risk of sounding dumb, a reproduction of what, made by who and what gauge?

Michael

Some company called Artax made it based on a Manton.
It's a rough struck barrel but smooth inside. Has a good lock and is quite fast. 12g.
Thanks y'all.

Well done Nate, reproduction or not! That is a fine looking fowler, I like it. Jess looks especially proud of her self, in that photo...”¦”¦.robin :applause:

Nate,

Great shooting, pictures, and beautiful fowler!

Magpies, indeed vermin held in the lowest regard. They invade songbird nests, maim the frantic parents trying to protect it and kill the young. Young vulnerable birds leaving the nest for the first time provide magpies with great sport. I have seen them kill, and then abandon what they have killed.
Starlings are the next worst, but that's another story.

Thanks for sharing the pictures Nate, more shots of dispatched magpies please...

It has no integral rammer. You have to carry an auxiliary.
It is visible in the first picture, skewered through my bag.
It's not PC! It's 12mm (1/2") black delrin rod with some turned aluminium on one end.
The other end is threaded also for cleaning tools or screws.

So is it a repo of a particular gun, or whole a modren with a traditional inspired design?
In my minds eye a can picture two tweed dressed gentleman hunting together and taking their shots then handing gun to batmen to load.

It's sold as "Artax Manton", so I guess it resembles a J, Manton design, the lock does resemble some of his originals I have seen on line.
