So I needed a breech plug and came across one that had been dinkered with. The side by the nipple had been ground down and was all mucked up. So... I took an old piece of brass pipe, cut and hammered it flat to make a piece approximately the size I needed, drilled and back tapped the brass to fit the existing "clean out" hole threads, made a couple of pins out of the leftover brass, drilled three holes and secured the overlay with the pins. After that it was just final fitting and polishing. I'm pretty happy with it.
