    My Horn Workplace

    Do not use MEK unprotected. MEK will hurt you on skin contact. Vapor is worse. I used to strip printed circuit boards with that chemical as a part of a process. MEK will hurt you. nuff said.

    How do you like your horns?

    Heavy on the rust. Make it a paste and let it sit for a few hours. Be certain to break the slick surface with a 220 grit paper first. Let me know how it goes for you. Remember it should be a warm to hot horn and use dry heat..

    A paste made from rust dust and water brushed on a warm horn should give you what you want if I read you correctly.

    Powder Horn spout trouble

    I drill a 5/16 hole and then cut the plug out of pine. I sand and fit till I get a slip fit that will not swell with humidity.

    I hear all of you, but my SMR dovetails required very minimum file work and they fit just fine.

    Believe it or not some folks I have made horns for wanted a medium sized flat horn. Plain and no scrim.

    Well lets just say that it is an art form. One has to think of the original folks and their dependance on that one shot. Oh I qualified expert all three years with an M14. Iam proud of that. I would like to try those 100 meter targets with my SMR. :-)
