Can anyone help figuring out in which country this blunderbuss was made and in which period?
It has a steel barrel, first part is octagonal and then it flares out into a round front end. The lock is inscribed "MEYER" on the inside and an initial which could be "I" or "J". The hammer has 2 positions apart from the "fired" position: one is half cock and the other is full cock. Overall length 100cm. I think this is a french type lock mechanism, but where was it made? Germany, the UK, Holland? Around 1750?
Thanks in advance for any hints to put me in the right direction.
