    It's good to have you here.
    Unfortunatly, my information says a Yazel cap and ball pistol is a modern inline design.

    Sorry but as the design is more recent than the Civil War, we can't help you.

    That said, we would be more than happy to talk all day about Civil War cap and ball pistols and anything that came before them. :)

    It seems I made a mistake. That's what I get for going out on the internet and looking at things.

    It seems the pistol being discussed here is the sidelock pistol that appears in the November 2007 Muzzle Blasts magazine in the article titled "Pistol Shooting at Friendship" by Thomas D. Schiffer.
    That pistol is a ".32 cal w/ 10" barrel"
    Unfortunately, the article does not seem to say anything about the fine points of this pistol and deals primarily with what a person has to do to shoot in the competition at a match under NMLRA rules at Friendship and at the Western Nationals match.
