Think I'll be trying to cast some round ball this winter. Have never done that. Was given close to 400 lbs of lead that is easily scratched with my thumbnail, and if it melts without a lot of impurities showing up I'll be giving it a try. I know it wasn't wheel weights so my hopes are high.

You just have to cast 20-30 balls ....before the mold heats up and you don’t get any more wrinkled balls.
 
Must have, because you can clearly see this is not a car, it's a cannon carrier.


I'm betting that large barrel with BOURBON written on it was filled with a very useful liquid.

Most likely, it was the reward given to the men who dug that monster out of the muddy road every time it got stuck. :D
 
Consider also how that monster would have scared the dickens out of horses and horse teams. I can only imagine how that literally would have upset the applecart everywhere it went, with horses trying to get away from it. :eek: :)
