I have a cannon with a 1.687 bore. It is for golf balls, but a bit too small for one pound fishing weights. Cannon Mike has a mold for 1.587. Would this be too small? Should I stick with the 1/40 th rule? He still hasn't answered my Email, so I thought I would ask the real experts.

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that mold should work just fine. Is your bore smooth or rifled? You may find sabot mounted rounds to be a good idea.

It's a smoothbore. I tried cutting down a fishing mould, but it still was too big, and the guy who made the barrel now only makes them with a 1.75 bore, so doesn't offer a mould that size anymore.

Try the Walmart fishing section and look for cannon ball sinkers. The come in many sizes, I believe that the 10oz ball will fit your bore. They are not to expensive and you can get several sizes to check out.
