Does anyone know of a gun maker or company that has a stock replicator? I have a original from the late 1830's that I want a new one made for it. It is falling apart and worn so bad that is barely a wall hanger. But may want to make a copy of it and use some of the parts in the new one.

I am pretty sure Pecatonica River will do it.

Best would be to give them a call to discuss your options. http://www.longrifles-pr.com/ They are great people to work with.

I should add that you will end up with an unfinished stock you will still need to do alot of fitting and sanding.

Your stock will need to be in one piece, with missing wood replaced. Otherwise, the replicator will replicate the broken, missing areas along with the rest of the stock.

I suggest talking to the person you contact to do the replication and follow their recommendations.

I would also suggest having somene who is a custom builder and restorer do the work.

Either of these two might be a good choice.

I seriously doubt that any replicator will be able to replicate the inlets, so your new stock will still need a LOT of work in the form of inletting, final shaping and sanding.

Depending on what this gun is, I highly suggest that you contact a restorer to see what the ramifications of restocking might be. It could be that a restoration of the old stock might be the best idea.

Here is one more for Ya. Al Edge, [email protected] 804-448-1119.
Does work for private collections, museums and the NRA museum in Fairfax Va. Can replicate or restore. For authenticity and a wall hanger I would assume you would want a restoration.
