I have read that coffee creamer is sometimes used with a blank load to make white smoke. Any details on how this is done? Quantities etc?

Captndan,

I haven't tried this in my own cannon, but powdered coffee creamer is very flammable and has been used in the pyrotechnics world for a fair amount of time to produce impressive fireballs. Having done this as a display in a static, vertically set can, I am fairly sure it will do the same (enhancing both flame & smoke) in a cannon. Here is some information on it from the pyrotechnic world.

I have used coffee creamer before, lots of flame and smoke, it also spits bits out, don’t do it near dry grass. I had better results using talcum powder, it’s cheap in bulk. I used 1 cup in a 2” bore gun with 600 gr. Of cannon powder. The audience loved it. And very safe.

Did you wrap the talc in anything?
