What smoothbore would you get next?

I have always had a strong interest in NW trade guns. Love the history surrounding them and their simple design. My dream smoothbore would be a North Star West trade gun in 24 gauge.

That would be my first choice. But I'd be easily satisfied with a NW gun built as well by someone else.

I have my eye on an Harper's Ferry U.S. Model 1842 Musket. Original Smoothbore. One of our club members has it for sale.

From what I remember when I saw it, about 3 months ago, it is in original configuration, no rear sight.

I’d like to say a Type G Carolina Trade Gun but being as the few builders of those guns are backed up 5+ years makes that a piped dream. (I don’t build myself).
