Hey y'all, just a quick question, what size flint should I use for a Traditions Mountain Rifle? It recommends 5/8", but I don't know if it is talking about a 5/8"x 5/8" square flint or a 5/8" x 3/4" flint.

If you can find it this'll be good, I didn't have found that size in Absurdistan an the more important flint knapper isn't far from my town, so I use only 3/4 flints, the width is that of the frizzen (~0.734), a bit more than 5/8), and it works pretty good...

I use the 5/8" x 3/4" french amber flints from Stonewall Creek Outfitters in my Traditions Mountain Rifle. In fact I use those flints in all my Traditions rifles so I buy them 50 at a time for $85, which is a great price. If you don't want to buy in bulk they sell them individually for $2.50 each.
