First time out with a fowler. Some time spent figuring out the gun's behavior, and some time on load development. More to be done, but really enjoyed the range time.

Keep us up to date; that is truly unique. Polecat

I'm cleaning and polishing the rust bucket of a .50 that I bought. The more I looked at it, the worse it's gotten. I think the only thing the previous owner ever cleaned was the bore.

The lock and trigger group are being worked on when I have time today.

Dale, i was truly hoping you for one would have some insight to this arm. I hope i stepped in something rosy. the more i study the pictures, the more exited i become. if that lock isn't a bucket of rust and springs aren't broken i hope to have it barking. if nothing else it is a grand example of Yankee ingenuity!
and i certainly have spent more on far less!

Took the wife to the dentist in Indy today and stopped at Cabela's. They had one box of 00 buckshot. Gonna try a buck and ball load in my northwest trade gun.

What caliber?

I've got a .62 smoothbore pistol, and just got some
.285 to try in a buck and ball. As I understand, with a twenty bore, you don't want to use 00 buck. Or maybe that's pistols. I'm still learning.

Gonna be a heck of a snake load!

put up a cabinet in the garage/gunroom/doghouse for my long rifle books and magazines. planned on shaping some on my fowler build.
turned around and there was a blonde, blue eyed demon with other ideas. "i am here to help you clean up the garage" says the bride with blood in her eye. 4 hours of "put this here", "throw that out", "why do you have these with those?", "GET BACK HERE".
i did stroke the fowler as i passed it.
Oh yeah! during the brief breaks i was allowed i studied the combo gun pictures. and got the shipping notice! IT'S ON THE WAY!!!!

gawdamity, I'm glad I ain't married. This whole thing here is mine and I like it the way it is. Messy but I know where everything is.
yeah Mushka, single life has its benefits. but you live where it's warm! i hate sleeping alone when it's -10* out side and just above freezing inside!
plus i owe this special woman my life several times over.

and i can hide like a sniper when she has a work detail in mind!🤣

So sorry just cannot get this long long brass thing Facebook address to cut paste or this or that. Sometimes if you click around it comes up. It was just a bit of brass work I found interesting too long to type out

I was struggling with my Gibbs look alike .6 target rife. The tang was too high in the walnut so I had to dig out more of the barrel slot. Pleasant enough on patio. Almost there three cups of tea later. Think rifle twist is 1/28”. At last we have rain in southern England till middle of next week

Progress on my nbig C. Is progressing well tumours shrinking. Axipimib & Avelumb from USA I gather. Yesterdays infusion no pain nothing it’s quite pleasant over 4 hours. With plenty of free food I wish you all well especially those like me extra well. Cannot grumble i am 36 born in 1943

Now that’s a true friend!!
Yes we are good friends but giving him that muzzle loader ignited something in his love of the sport. He shoots it a lot and is also asking many others who haven’t ever tried ML before if they would like to try it. Passing on the experience is greater joy for me and him than just shooting alone.

I spent the day at the range…

It’s not all muzzleloader related but I shot three different ones and one of them for the first time!
An hour of archery and an hour and a half of black powder. I rarely see my son so it was all as perfect as it gets.
Got a little range time in…..this target is a total of ten shots….five high right, four at the bullseye, one…uh…flinch, jerk, didn’t squeeze…I dunno. All in all, I was happy!View attachment 87272
yardage? Caliber?
