Interested to see what ya'll are shooting. Share a pic of you favorite rifle and why it is your favorite. Thought it would be a fun thread. Here is my .50 caliber rifle. 42 inch barrel. This gun is my favorite because it is a tack driver. Wish I knew the maker. My only quip with it is that it doesn't have a swamped barrel, and handling suffers accordingly. All in all a great shooter, especially off the bench.

If three of you guns was drowning and you could only save one which would it be?😂
All and all my favorite gun has been my centermark TFC. Very comfortable to shoot, easy on the eyes and very tough and reliable built it and 95 and never had a lick of trouble with it.

I’ve slimmed the herd down drastically in recent days. Kept only two in fact. One is my Isaac Haines late Lancaster .50 flint which I’ve recently converted to percussion. Did this in a way that allows the change back should I wish to continue my flinching ever again. Pictures of this rifle in both configurations are attached.
The second is a TC Renegade .54 cap that has been restocked and new iron hardware installed. Did it myself so nothing is square nor centered, but darn she shoots!! I suspect these two fine rifles will stay with me till the end. Will try and get a picture of this rifle tomorrow.

Lordy that’s a tough one! Each has a place of its own in my memories. Several “first” included like first successful build, first hunt, first custom and such. Favorites can change back n forth with the season. But here’s one I’m pretty fond of at this time... because it was one of the last built by my friend Jim Findley pictured here.

For hunting, the top rifle. A Lyman Deer Stalker in 54 caliber that still puts three shots in an inch at 70 yards.
For targets, a home made Tennessee Poor Boy 40 caliber.
Honorable mention is a Kit T/C flinter in 45 that has a 5 digit serial number and still shoots fantastic. (from the bench)

All mine are favorites took a long time and much re-search on design and finding a good builder, they all see usage depending on the situation I am faced with at the time, some are factory built and some are custom built. Never been one to have a just one favorite anything they are all important.

I don't know about favorite but the two that I am most sentimentally attached to is the .36 cal Seneca that was my wife's rifle and the TC .54 cal kit hawkin that she bought for me for Christmas one year long ago that I built. She has since passed. I don't know about favorites because I have eight MZ guns and it is always hard to make up my mind which one I want to shoot when going to the range. They go from 32 to 62cal and two of them are flinters. Decisions, decisions. I suppose that my favorite is the one I'm shooting at the time.

Fun thread.
From top to bottom:
My favorite 6:
Original (1842 Harpers Ferry)
Deer Rifle (Allen Martin .58 Newcomer Schimmel)
20 bore (Jack Brooks Type G)
Made from a Kit (Kibler SMR .45)
Squirrel Gun (Jack Duprey Soddy .36)
Varmint (Jack Duprey Upper East Tennessee .40)

If I had to choose my favorite of my favorites it would be the Soddy Daisy but if I could only own one it would be the 20 bore.

Bob tell me about the brass barreled pistol in your collection, I am looking for one in .62 cal. prefer a private builder. In left hand lock.

Hey AP. That was built by Eric Kettenburg. He’s your guy if you want unique. It can be seen on his website I believe. Original French lock and naval brass barrel. I have a video or two on my YouTube channel on it. Best way to get ahold of EK is on the ALR forum. He’s an absolute genius builder. Sort of the Angstadt of our century, IMHO. Search for his name in the Contemporary Makers Blog. Once in a generation talent.

My favorite is my squirrel hunting gun by Kevin Blivens of Phoenix Arms. It is a .32 with a Rice barrel, Zorn lock and Davis triggers stocked in a pretty piece of walnut with iron furniture.IMG_20190604_154908695.jpgIMG_20190606_160411116.jpg

BOB done a quick search on Eric the one place stated he no longer builds, any fact to this. But that pistol is exactly what I am a looking for only in left hand lock. We will be away for a bit but I shall attempt to contact him. Thanks for your reply.

No problems. no truth to that at all. As a matter of a fact he’s building one for me as we speak and I know he’s has builds after. His last rifle build that he finished was posted on ALR a month or so ago and he talks continually about upcoming builds. He’s less than 50 so he has a lot left in him.
