Looks like it was made in one of the "stans" ( Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan)
 
I know this is an older thread but I wanted to give a more definitive answer to the question.
What @poker shows is tourist/display piece from Morocco. I saw a good amount being sold in the tourist areas back in 2010.

It is a copy of what I believe is called a Moukhala. Originals will usually have a Snaphaunce lock, here is an original.

Some of the new made pieces use original antique locks or barrels, even decorations, but you must really know what you are looking for.
