What does NOS mean?

Almost there. NOS means it its new, and typicially ORIGINAL equipment to the item in question. Doesnt really mean it still comes in the original packaging, but never mounted or used

Also means Nitrous Oxide System a serious 'go fast' item for automobiles and also a giggle gas at the dentist.

But for our purposes, New Old Stock.

An example of of NOS would be finding a new previously unsold Thompson Center Hawken on the back shelf at a hardware store. I have a set of TC primitive rear sights for a TC Hawken I purchase at a little shop a couple of years ago long after production ceased. They have never been out of the package. I guess they are NOS too.

I picked up a NOS TC Renegade barrel in the white for $60 on ebay, it was stripped of the sights and underib but still a great deal, I built a Renegade out of random parts around it.
