I don’t have too many, 5 total. Of which 3 are percussion and 2 are flint. When my SMR is built that will make 6, but doesn’t count now. Of those I have the favorite is my Pedersoli Flint Pennsylvania/Kentucky rifle in .50 cal. I’ve tuned it and it’s just a pleasure to shoot, well balanced, and dependable.

I have five flintlocks and four of them are really fine with provenance, but my favorite is my 62” smoothbore in 20. It is a daily driver and shoots better than I do. It is light, practically points itself and feels like an extension of my arms. I honestly feel lucky to own them all but this one is my favorite.

The horned toad says we should go to Mexico.
A SMR. In flint. Don't know which one though. I'm building my third right now. 2 are .45's, the third is a .54. DSCN0676.JPG If I had to choose, I think it would be the 54 Bean. Good hunting gun, it shoots better than I can. Tight barrel like a Plains rifle, it takes a .52 ball and mink oiled .18 patches. Any larger ball and you won't get a second shot off without wiping, no matter the patch size.

Beautiful! Did you build it?

If so, can you provide purchasing/vendor information on the butt plate? Simple clean lines. I need a straightforward piece for a build I'm working on.

Thanks.
No I didn't build it. I bought it from Dixons some years back while on a trip to Gettysburg. Sorry I don't remember too much about the builder or details except 45 cal Rice swamped barrel Chambers lock.

Don't have a "favorite". Depends on what's happening at the time. Prefer to shoot originals - shotguns mostly knocking around the farm. Deer season- mostly modern made because they're more accurate.
