Well guys are we going to end this with just this few pictures? I can't believe no one else has pistols they are not proud of and want to show off here.

I guess I will post some of my own pictures. Here is what I started with and here is where I am at right now.

Looks good, Lee. You work with what you have, and the CVA parts don't (apparently) don't always fit to the wood. Some voids there, which the builder has no control over.

Well tomorrow I am going to the cabinet shop here in town and see if I can get some fine sawdust from them. A little sawdust and a little Gorrila Glue and you have wood putty. The voids will be filled and finished.

Bough a CVA mt pistol back in the 70s. Restocked with a TOW stock blank.

Gorilla glue foams up and expands as it dries. A better choice is Tite Bond II. Be sure to mix stain in with the sawdust as the glued seam will never take stains. See what glue they recommend at the cabinet shop and get the same wood species sawdust as you have in your project. Actually you have extra wood on the pistol stock, so you can make your own sawdust.

If you use any kind of glue/sawdust to fill in the parts that don't fit, you probably need to grease the metal to keep it from bonding to the wood.

Ok all good advice so far. Now I got some simple inlays coming from TOW . Some diamonds and some stars. Any advice on putting these in the wood? Before stain or after stain? Put flush with wood first or put below wood surface and then sand down flush? Type of glue to use to attach inlays? Never done this before but I want to try. Can't learn without stepping forward.

I’ve posted these befor but will add them to this for balk. Both Lyman kits with extra work on one.
As to inlays I screw or nail with tiny nails, never tried glue. Inlays should be flush with the finished stock. Stain after all sanding is done.

I like the darker stock of these Lymans and absolutely love the half-round barrel on the other one.

Okay guys got another question or two. First my inlays came in today. This is how I propose to set them. Any other suggestions?

Second is the trigger, basically it sucks. I think I need to change the fulcrum point. The original trigge is a problem.

I found this at Muzzleloader Supply for $22.00 plus shipping. It has a higher fulcrum point and should be a little easier pull force.

What say you gurus of the Black Smoke? Or is this Drunk Monkey type work?
