I guess there's two ways of taking the term "Wall Hanger"
First there's the literal meaning to display or have at the ready!
Then there's a classification of "shooters" and no longer shootable but very nice "wall hanger."
I have an 1847 Springfield percussion conversion "relic" that will never be fired again hanging on the wall in my office. But the guns I shoot are stored away out of site.View attachment 95956
“Wall Hangers” are a very subjective term. Many of us out west have found our Damascus doubles that we shoot in competition at the local gun shows at very reasonable prices. To the sellers they were wall hangers.
Doc,

I still use my wall hangers, I used to keep a flintlock rifle over the mantlepiece in the great room, and a Pat 53 over the mantle in the dining room

I completely understand being proud of your guns. I don’t like the idea of advertising. As for myself they are all put away in my safes with a dehumidifier. The only guns out are hidden protection guns.
Doc,

I being perhaps dim don't quite follow how Lagos Nigeria fits in .The rest is a horror story all too familiar in this increasingly anti gun world . even NZ suffers the loony Left at present , you have my sympathies.
Regards Rudyard
My kids say oh not Nigeria again At age 24 1968 I was running a big pharmaceutical company ( willows Francis) Epsom More because directors had all died ha ha 1978 I fancied working overseas and horrors the only job I got was in Lagos Nigeria building a massive pharamautical co plus plastic bottles a Revlon The English looked down on me as I was an engineer, But the Germans at the club called me an industrialist ...come to the German hunters club...mainly clay pigeon shooting I shot with Italians great guys up at Lanlatin 120 miles north Nothing there except partridge and other foul I refused to hunt with them utter mad , I have had shotgun slugs wiz past my head several Italians accidentally shot No thanks came home some time in 1980 pay chequers started bouncing. I think the definition of a wallhanger is a counterintuitive term. When you have a great gun that you use a lot, hanging it makes it easy to grab and use as well as displaying a piece of utilitarian artwork. I don’t hang my guns but have hung a guitar or banjo.

Well I don't wanna brag but yeah, I'm pretty handsome! Lol, no, I'm not the Belgian guy on YouTube.
When I picked the screen name I was thinking clever Cap'n Crunch play on words.

Except for easily accessible items strategically located, I have nothing spread around the house. The underhammer is not a replica even though it's near 60 years old. It's never been babied, has been pulled through the bush many years and fired countless times. It's no longer functional so has earned a retirement; bore is still pristine. The US M1841 .54 is a jewel and is just so magnificently handsome it begs to be displayed even though only a carefully chosen few get to see it.

when we all run out of WALL, then just build an ADDON, addition!

My drive is 1/2 mile and anyone coming up is very conspicuous. I have a monitored security system not because I worry about thieves but because this is rural and if there was a fire it might not be seen til too late. And there is the dog.
But I am still antsy about displaying my firearms. Don't even like repair people seeing them. Who knows who they talk to and what they might say?

The 'Belgian guy on Youtube', Dr Balázs Németh, is a Doctor of military history and principal university lecturer in that subject in Budapest, capital of Hungary. Thought that watching him a few times, and noting his frequent references to shooting at home in Hungary you might just have spotted that.... He is also an author, re-enactor, local organiser of the MLAIC competitions and co-owner of a highly-regarded gun store in Budapest, along with his brother and sister-in-law.

He is the main Pedersoli dealer in that part of Europe and has an enviable relationship with Snre Pedersoli - father and son - and is a frequent visitor to their factory in Gardone Val Trompia, Brescia, Italy. He is also the front of store man on the Pedersoli stand at the IWA most years. Take a look at kapszli.hu for details of the gun store.

Oh

Display firearms is illegal in California. They must be secured in a safe. You can use a trigger lock but that is ugly. Advertising you have guns is a bad idea here. Word get around and you get ripped off. Some of the thieves are specialists, they steal your whole safe in minuets. If a LEO were to notice you have guns laying around you just gave him probable cause to search your whole house. Searching a house involves emptying every drawer and container on the floor or bed. It sound like those are not issues in some places.

Better to run a low profile, IMHO.
