    Angie,
Are there any requirements (other than perhaps posting numbers) that are set for vendors? Any standards of correctness? If they claim to be selling a period product - shouldn't they be required to actually be selling a period product (and be able to back this claim with evidence)?

Sometimes, I feel like I'm walking through the tourist section of a Pow-wow that is filled with junk and fantasy items...

So, after signing-up, they can sell whatever junk they want? I've seen some good stuff, but there is some truly outrageous and egregious crap....

In your extreme purist opinion. But do not insult the vendors/sponsors or the posts will be deleted. If you do not like it, don’t buy it.

You say "vendor" but I'm assuming you mean some recent new "members" recently posting in the classifieds.
    Correct?

They are in the vendor section but appear to be members.

Not planning on buying any of the junk, but I also feel there should be standards for items being sold.

And apparently, not just my opinion either...

Stop calling it junk if you don’t like it.
If if does not sell here, the Sponsor/Vendor will stop selling the other stuff.
    All vendors/sponsors are members.

Now this topic is closed, and please do not belittle the products of a vendor. If you don’t like it, hush.

And who decides what the "standards" are and who enforces them?
What do we do if the "standards" don't meet someone elses standards? Do we keep changing them until everyone is happy?

In America the principle of Laissez faire exists. A seller can give his opinion of his product without government approval. Likewise, here on the forum a seller can give his opinion about something he's selling.

It is the responsibility of the buyer, not some ordained high judge to determine if the sellers opinion is correct (if it isn't some sort of "life/death" item).

If someone doesn't want to buy something, he doesn't have to buy it. It's as simple as that.
