I've been using bacon grease that I render and strain. I mix it with old candles and a little olive oil. Its greasy, tacky, and doesn't run when its hot outside. I use it on the arbors of my cap n ball revolvers to grease the cylinder. Works pretty well and smells like bacon when its fired!
Nice. I've been seeing a lot of conversations about making your own lube. I'm wondering what ratios are used and supposed it just depends on the desired reault.

I don't have ratio unfortunately. I start with hot bacon grease, add some candle to it and let it set and see where its at. I aim to have it slightly softer than candle wax at this point-too hard to use as lube but not quite as hard as candle wax. Then I add a olive oil, little by little, until it gets to the consistency I like. Soft enough to use my finger to spread it, but still with some hardness like candle wax, yet also tacky; almost like pine sap that has firmed up.
