I have a 40 caliber caplock rifle in the style of a southern rifle. It is unmarked except for this stamp on the lockplate and the caliber stamped in the trigger guard. Can anyone identify the maker? I feel certain it is a 20th century made gun. Possibly a kit.

That is a Turner Kirkland lock and your 40 caliber is more than likely one of his early 60's - 70's Belgian made Kentucky rifles. He sold them through his Dixie arms company. The one I had showed Turner Kirkland on the upper barrel flat and 40 caliber. On the underside of the barrel you should find the Belgian proof marks. They are a fun little rifle. If you do a Turner Kirkland search of the forum you will find a lot of information.

More pictures are definitely needed.

Thanks
O.R.
