Tried a new recipe

Ive been watching the Townsends cooking series and decided to try the Savory beef Meat Pie. I used thin sliced deer backstrap, white onions sliced, flour, salt/pepper, savory and some hard cider for the liquid. I cooked it on my Green Egg since I don't have an earth oven. It was downright awesome!! My wife and daughters liked it also. I recommend y'all trying this if you can!

I'm not surprised about the recipe. Jon finds some darn good recipes from the 1700s. I should try that meat pie.

If you like onions, check out the baked onion video. It's so simple even I can do it. The method brings out every bit of sweetness in the onion along with a delicious texture. Add a bit of butter, salt and pepper on the plate and you have a major part of a meal. Perfect for home or for a camp.

I should order one of the cookbooks they sell on the Townsends site to experiment during the winter.

I love to cook and have for a long time. The Green Egg was one of the best investments that I have made, going on 9 years now. But that earth oven, and the simple way that he shows to build one is on my radar!!
