I ordered this bag from DGW and want to treat the suede to help with the wet here in the PNW. Looking for some recommendations to help make the leather more water resistant or proof. Greatly appreciate feedback and thoughts.

Don't know if you're looking for 100% period correct or a modern solution, but the KIWI shoe care people put out some very nice suede protection products.

Spray it on and done.
No, I don't do all the period correctness.(pretty sure that bag ain't period correct! 😁 ) Thank you for the suggestion, I'll look into it.

Any kind of waterproofing you put on the bag will change to look of it drastically. However, it will give it a look of age that it doesn't have.
I'm ok if it darkens it up a bit. In fact, a rub in treatment would be preferred.
On the other hand, you can use it as a napkin to wipe your greasy hands and face on and it will look just fine in about 10 or so years...
Yeah, that might be a little longer than I'm looking for. Might not be able to shoot in 10yrs! 🤣

The suede is definitely problematic when it comes to treating or waterproofing.

Now I've never done this. Just sorta thinking out loud. How about some of that stuff for spraying on tents? I think it's called Camp Dri. I used it on a canvas bag once and it kept things dry inside.

I bought some stuff from a amish tack store that worked pretty good, as mentioned earlier, suede needs something specific

Let the weather do its thing and your bag will be period correct in short order. :)
That can take a lot longer than imagined …

I took my 1st canvas fowling bag attempt and dragged it around in the dirt then treated it with a beeswax mix. But I would have used the Sno-Seal if it was leather.

Another vote for SNO SEAL. I'm in wet W PA and it's the only thing I will use on my boots to stay dry. The spray on Camp Dry and most other sprays are silicone which is fine for other items but i found that it needs to be re-applied depending on use. The one thing that I noticed on silicone treated boots is that the boots would get wet at the flex points, particularly on top of the toe/foot area.

Pillow Ticking is so versatile in regards to what ever you want to use it for it looks so period correct in certain respects. Was going to sew up some game meat bags with linen tie cords.
