Took the 10g out again, still fouled!
Three shots for three on the wing after three weeks fouled.
I left the hens be.

Great video! Good shooting. Are you trying to see how long you can go without cleaning your 10 bore? If so keep us posted.
No not really. I'm just trying to dispell the fear some have about the need to clean a muzzleloader as soon as possible.
Use the right lube during shooting and keep it warm and dry when not in use and nothing bad will happen.
The next time the weather has me stuck indoors I might clean it then.
I want to manage my muzzleloaders, not the other way around!

Some folks would almost make one think you better load it,,, then clean it yesterday 🙄

Nathan I cleaned my gun before winter and used the tea kettle even took less patches .That spiced rum goes really good with Dr Pepper and ice .
The beauty is that everything everyone is worried about, the salts and perchlorates, are completely dissolved and flushed away. No more iron cancer. 👍🏻
The spiced rum makes it even less a chore. Mixed or straight.
I was never one for fooling around so strait is fine by me.

Ever tried this method with Pyrodex instead of blackpowder?

I'm really confused.

Are you cleaning the bore with rum and antibacterial wipes?

You also mention using the correct lube to be able to foul it and not clean for awhile. What lube would that be?

And the finest grade too. It's like dust.
I only need a little over half volume to shot!
Go ahead and say it Brits...4f...4f!!! 😉🙂

Actually, you should try Null B and see if you can reduce the charge some more!!! 👍 If everyone did that we could dispense with the continuing question of: "Can I use my main charge powder in the pan?"😝

The rum is for me.
The wipes don't need to be antibacterial. The fouling is very antibacterial.
The hot kettle in view is for flushing the foul out and conveniently dries the gun after.
The lube is a mix of all sorts now

It started off as beeswax and olive oil and although much of that remains it not contains a lot of coconut fat I stole from the cupboard!
Any fat or oil considered a food will absorb fats and hold them trapped, unlike oil from the ground which can not hold salts indefinitely.
The amount of black powder gun barrels I've seen ruined by folk using so called off the shelf gun oils is upsetting!

So the cleaning method doesn't have much if anything to do with the ability to leave it fouled for weeks without rust, right?

And using a patch lube that is natural, either animal or plant based, should be good to test this out, for example Track of the wolf mink oil? Would you expect this to work in a rifles barrel?

I really want to try this with my rifle for hunting so I can foul the barrel before hunting, load another one and go hunting for the next few weeks without cleaning it.

No.

I've tested it for years. It works but I don't actually know what is in mink oil but I do know what is mine.
