As a nipple protector, I have used a spent .22 short cartridge. I use them most when I have a load in the gun at the end of a hunting day. It reminds me that the gun is loaded, and helps to keep moisture out of the nipple.

…I did find a shop who listed them as “CW Enfield Nipple Protector”
(S&S Firearms of NY)

The seller felt it should fit any thing with a musket cap nipple

Seller did not think it should be placed on a nipple with a cap in place (never the plan on my part but pretty sure it would not fit anyway
