Quick question about 2nd gen Hawken rear sight. Bringing a Hawkens back to life after it hung on the wall since the 80s. The rear sight left right adjustment screw does nothing. Took sight apart and was expecting "keeper" or nut on side marked but don t see one.just 1 screw and spring.
Does anyone know what the missing item is called or if replacement part is available?

On the far side of the sight in your photograph (opposite the screw head) there is a ring or bearing, for lack of a better description, that is either staked (older examples) or held to the ‘screw’ with a cross pin. When the bearing and screw assembly is rotated, the rear sight riding on the screw threads move left to right. Fairly simple device.

You mentioned your rifle has been a wall hanger for many years. If your eyes are not what they used to be you might consider mounting a peep sight .
