Only 6 shots today but it was fun.
I was happy with my 30 yard group but 50 yard needs some work.
Sure it was all me and not the gun or loads fault.
I was aiming at red dot all 6 shots.

since i am running low on the good stuff, i picked up a bottle of pyrodex P to test.
It worked great without a single hiccup today.

70grs pyrodex P, 245gr maxi ball.

I found it interesting the load had the steam @50 yards to blow through both sides of the steel drum and a 2x6 on the back side.

Boker- nice shooting just be careful loading any higher powder charge behind that Maxi Ball. A lot of Cherokee and Seneca rifles have suffered cracked stocks while shooting this type of load. I have a few of these and have designated them to round ball only and max charges of 60 grains.

I have had this rifle since I was 12. I want to harvest one nick buck with it and I’ll retire it to a range plinker.

I may reduce load to 60grs though.

A .50 caliber wad, I like Ox Yoke pre lubed, under the conical gives excellent accuracy in my rifles. If you go up a caliber on the wad, it seals better. Learned this from IdahoLewis. What he can do with full caliber conicals is AMAZING. I have a .50 with a 1-38 twist that will put 3 400 grain Lyman Plains home cast, soooo close to an inch at 100 yards. With no leading. If I don't use a wad ( Ox Yoke .54/.56), its 3 inches and I get leading.
