SS BEAVER [HBC] ** 1st STEAM SHIP on the US WEST COAST ** 1836
She was built in Englund & 0perated org. from the HBC Fort Vancouver. Her primary function was the FUR TRADE from the Columbia River N. {NOTE -- She was ARMED ( 4 Brass cannons+Muskets ("brown bess" )+ cutlasses & She & the men used them)}
1846 Her "base" was relocated to HBC Ft. Victoria (BC) & served there until 1888, when She was wrecked & sank.
1970s a replica ship was constructed & is docked in Victoria.
