I've used both English and French flints from Stonewall Creek Outfitters , for near 20 years with complete satisfaction. I used to say , French flints were softer than English , but don't support that now. This company has served me well.
 
They are probably way over 200 years old. Maybe they were knapped 200 years ago. The rocks themselves maybe 540 million to 3.96 billion years old or there about. 😄
That's almost as old as some of the folk on here
